Next day we called in to see friends in Toowoomba for smoko and that afternoon went to Milmerran to visit other friends that we'd made at the Camp Oven Festival four years ago. They put us up in a bedroom provided us with an evening meal and breakfast and saw us on our way next day. We travelled to Texas after a day looking around Inglewood and spent the next two days at a lovely camp spot about 3km out of town on the Dumaresq River which was in flood, about 2m over the causeway. We had to drive to town for toilet and hot showers but couldn't complain because of the price (free). Met a couple from West Aust and now have another contact to visit when we get to Perth.
From Texas we motored stately into Goondowindi and did a bit of admin here. Also had a bit more canvas work done to add a flap to cover the front battery compartment which we think could have been another source of water leaks since new. We will find out after the next lot of heavy driving rain we encounter. "Tom's Tarps" in Goondi if you need any canvas work when out that way! Did a good job at short notice on a Friday afternoon for us.
Left Goondi fairly late and stayed at a free camp at Bungunya, about 70km west of Goondiwindi. Again free with hot showers and toilets. About 4 other campers in various rigs here. Next morning off to Nindigully pub, arriving here Saturday morning. Nice spot again on the Moonie River about 40km south of St George. Have use of toilets and hot showers at the pub, all they ask is a donation for upkeep of the facilities. Went for lunch at the pub on Sunday. We had a steak sandwich each, in hindsight we should have shared one! This is a place to visit if you are out this way. Established in 1864 and holds the oldest continual hotel licence in Queenland. Some photos attached. There was water in the pub (4.7m flood level) in March this year when the big flood went thru St George and other western areas.
